Our World AS Day Events & Comittment

For our third year of Walk Your A.S. Off we decided that we had to become “Champions of World AS Day” since we have our finish line every year on this important day. Also since we are a worldwide walk we thought we could be a place for the organizations and people across the globe to come together. And… well, someone needed to do it! We’ve set up a new Facebook page for World A.S. Day and Walk Your A.S. Off celebrations! This page will be for everyone – no need to have been part of the walk to participate… Read More »Our World AS Day Events & Comittment

We’re averaging around 63 million steps per week which is just awesome everyone! We have a couple of big walk events coming up that will add some pretty big numbers but I’d love if we could hit a BILLION steps this year (might be a stretch but we’ll be posting some ways to get additional donations in the next couple of weeks). Walk Your A.S. Off has their sights set on MARS!

Walk Your A.S. Off announces the largest endeavor to date – a continuation of their steps into the unknown and a place no one has ventured. Thousands of people with the chronic disease Ankylosing Spondylitis and the family of related diseases will take their mission to what some might say is an unobtainable goal – the planet Mars! In year one, founder Jennifer Visscher, thought a million steps was a lofty goal but she quickly saw an outpouring of support from fellow ASers and their friends and family, and realized that her vision needed to be larger. The community rallied… Read More »Walk Your A.S. Off has their sights set on MARS!

Million Stepper – Kelly Warner!

My name is Kelly Warner. I am deaf and 43 years old , married to a wonderful husband of 14 years, who is also deaf. Just months before my marriage, I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. The full extent of my disease wasn’t apparent until months afterwards. I endured fibromyalgia on top of it. We suspect “arthritis” ran in the family as my grandfather had Ankylosing Spondylitis. I started taking Enbrel in 1999. It was a miracle drug. It helped with the arthritis, but not the fatigue. I had gained considerable weight to the point of morbid obesity. My… Read More »Million Stepper – Kelly Warner!

Tiara's Tuesday Talk – Tell Everyone!

Tiara’s Tuesday Talk – by Sara Sheibley   in·vis·i·ble  /inˈvizəbəl/ Adjective: Unable to be seen; not visible to the eye. (Pretty easy to understand right?)   Here is a picture of me being invisible. Pretty huh? In all seriousness, we hear over and over again about invisible illness. We have them. We deal with the fall out of these invisible illnesses. There are articles out there everywhere discussing not only the illnesses themselves but the ramifications of having them. Ricky White did an excellent one on his blog http://endlesstrax.com/2013/03/22/invisible-illness/.  From our families to our friends to co-workers, strangers in the grocery store,… Read More »Tiara's Tuesday Talk – Tell Everyone!

Finding Steps In All Kinds Of Places!

by Sabrina Diane Throughout this walk I’ve pushed myself out of my comfort zone to spread awareness and gather steps on a whole new level. AKA Harassing friends and family and now even strangers to join in and help us. The funny thing is with as awkward as I felt about asking these people they didn’t feel uncomfortable about it at all. They were open to listening and helping. Many of my friends and family were thrilled to have a way they could show support for me and my struggles with Ankylosing Spondylitis. Strangers felt inspired by our efforts and… Read More »Finding Steps In All Kinds Of Places!
